Rock-picking fork, Presque Isle, ca. 1930

Contributed by Presque Isle Historical Society

Description

A special tool for picking rocks from a field. This fork has a long handle with short tines allowing for easy tossing of rocks onto a rock cart or truck.

Usually a rock cart would travel through a field with 2 or 3 workers walking near the cart. These workers used the fork to pick up a smaller rock and toss it into the cart. This eliminated having to stoop down to pick up the rock by hand.
