Soldier's Monument, located in Eastman Park (once called Monument Square), at the intersection of Main, North, Elm, and Beach Streets.

It was erected and dedicated Memorial Day 1907 in recognition to Revolutionary War soldiers and casualties.

The inscription on the front is, "Erected to the Memory of the Country and Defenders 1776 to 1806" and on the back, extracted from Pres. Abraham Lincoln's second inaugural, "with malice toward none, with charity for all, etc".

The John B. Gregory House (11 North St.) is in the background. This Queen Anne architectural style home was built in 1893 by Gregory, an agent of the Saco River Lumber Co. Unique features include three-story conical towers and twisted porch columns.
