Randolph Codman letter on Stephen Longfellow election campaign, 1823

Description

Randolph A. Codman of Standish wrote to Josiah Pierce of Gorham concerning the campaign for Congress of Stephen Longfellow of Portland, a Federalist candidate.

Codman warned Pierce to be "vigilant" because the Federalists were outnumbered 3-1.

Stephen Longfellow was the father of poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
