Penobscot River and Chesuncook Lake, 1820

Contributed by Maine Historical Society

Description

Nathaniel H. Loring created this map for the northeast boundary survey. He, along with many other surveyors, mapped the areas along the eastern and northern boundary of Maine.

Portfolio B consists of 31 maps and an index bound together with the British surveys on one hand and the United States' surveys opposite for purposes of comparison.

The portfolio is thought to have been compiled by Thomas Barclay, the British Commissioner for the boundary work.
