Description

The "Jumbo" stone wagon, or galamander, was used to carry large granite blocks. The stone was carried under the the rear wheels using a block and tackle lever to maneuver the stone up and down.

The large 12-foot oak wheels made moving easier. Large teams of oxen or horses pulled the "Jumbo" galamander of Vinalhaven.
