Description
The Macadam Hammer had a long wooden handle and round head. It was used for laying paving block on the streets in the cities. The hammer was struck on the paving block to remove small chips to insure the 3/16 inch joints required between the blocks. This ensured the horse's shoes did not get caught between the blocks.
