Contributed by Jonathan Fisher Memorial, Inc.
Although most people would characterize Jonathan Fisher as an extremely serious man, he had a streak of whimsey as shown by his embedding his profile in the title page of his book Scripture Animals or Natural History of the Living Creatures named in the Bible, Written Especially for Youth.
Parson Fisher wrote and illustrated this book in 1834. Some of the 142 woodcuts he made for the book are still preserved in Blue Hill.
