Fire lookout tower, West Kennebago Mountain, ca. 1920

Description

The Forest Service fire lookout tower on West Kennebago Mountain at Upper Cupsuptic.

A wood tower built in 1911 was replaced in 1914 with a 24-foot steel tower, built at an elevation of 3,705 feet.

In 1917, Lancelot Cooper was the watchman and in 1919, Wallace S. Houston served in that position.
