Description

The specific location of the woods camp is unknown. Many woodsmen worked as farm hands or were farm owners who worked the land during the spring, summer and fall.

Come winter, they worked in the woods as cutters, teamsters and cooks, as well as other occupations.

Farmers often took their farm horses into the woods to work for additional payment and to save the expense of keeping them over the winter at home.
