Description

Recording of campers from Camp Winnebago in Fayette singing "Old Man Lehrman," the fourth song on side 2 of the vinyl record produced for the camp in 1964. The song was written about "Uncle Leo Lehrman" who was associated with Camp Winnebago for 40 years, first as a swimming counselor, then director of the waterfront, and eventually head counselor of the camp. Traditionally, they sang this song on his birthday July 3.

Camp Winnebago was founded on the shores of Echo Lake in 1919 and is a camp for boys ages 8 - 15.

Words to "Old Man Lehrman"

Old Man Lehrman, that Old Man Lehrman,
He don't say nothing, he must know something.
That old man Lehrman, he just keeps rolling along.

He just turned 40, but still looks sporty,
Don't aggravate him, our meals are waiting.
As old man Lehrman, he just keeps [?walking] along.
Leo's [?] at the bugle's call.
Clear the fields, hey tether-ball.
Leo's there with the same old tune,
If you leave things out, they will be ruined.

Old Man Lehrman, that Old Man Lehrman,
He don't say nothing, he must know something.
That old man Lehrman, he just keeps rolling along.
