Roscoe Stephens' telescope, Kennebunk, ca. 1942

Roscoe Stephens of Kennebunk built his own telescope, starting work on the project when he was 70 years old. He became interested in astronomy when he was a child.

The telescope had a 12 1/2 inch mirror. Stephens also built a structure to house the telescope.
