Rock Potatoes, Houlton area

Contributed by Aroostook County Historical and Art Museum (Houlton Museum)

These rocks were picked off sorting tables during potato processing. Before stringent quality control, it was not unknown for an occasional "rock potato" to show up in a bag of potatoes either by accident or as a prank. These rock potatoes are displayed in a traditional potato basket.
