Hammond House, Eliot, 1910

Description

In 1910, Eliot celebrated the Centennial of its incorporation as a town.

The houses throughout the town were decorated with patriotic bunting to mark the event. The town hired local photographer Ira St. Clair to record the festivities adn the photos were later turned into postcards.

This house, which belonged to the Hammond family, is located on State Road. The family members of the decorated houses often dressed in their best and posed in front of their homes for the photos.
