Rosemary Cottage, Eliot, ca. 1900

Rosemary Cottage was founded in 1888 by the noted philanthropist Hannah Shapleigh Farmer, wife of inventor Moses Gerrish Farmer, as a summer home for mothers and their children from Boston.

The cottage provided from the city for the women and children.

The cottage operated well into the early twentieth century. The building was then sold and turned into apartments.
