Contributed by Durham Historical Society

Description

The names of all the residents from Durham who served during World War II are listed on this large wooden plaque, which now hangs in the Durham Historical Society building. One woman's name is among the 87 people listed. Created shortly after the end of the war, two names--Percy E. Carpenter and Lincoln E. Clement, Jr--have stars next to them, denoting the two men who did not return home.
