John Hamlin's parade wagon, Durham, July 4, 1938

Contributed by Durham Historical Society

Description

Local farmer and trapper John Hamlin sits in his wagon as part of Durham's 150th anniversary celebration parade on July 4, 1938. The man next to him is unidentified. If the hard-to-read sign on the back of the wagon, and the anvil in the center of it, is to be believed, he may well have also been the town's blacksmith.
