Description
"The Best Seller," was presented by the Houlton Women's Club in the Heywood Opera House on February 24, 1914.
Synopsis, from the program: an "...authoress, a young widow, thoroughly discouraged over her continual return of her [manuscripts], in desperation tries an old Greek incantation invoking the aid of the heroines of fiction, the "Best Sellers" of the past. They come to her all throughout the play lending her help and inspiration for her new book and at the last she receives a letter from her publishers saying that her book has been accepted and will undoubtedly be the "Best Seller" of the year."
According to the "Bangor Daily Commercial," (1914-02-24), the cast contains "...some of the best known young people in Aroostook."
The cast consisted of Frances Richards, Elizabeth Shaw, Virginia Donnell, Alyne Gould, Ada Lewin, Clare Browne, Tessa Gibson, Florence Cary, Marion Buzzell, Doris Cochran, Marion Sincock, Catherine Cary, Marion Williams, Betty Hume, Louise Buzzell, Theresa Dill, Lida Hodgins, Grace Bates, Helen Coan, Miss Smith, Jean Dickson, Lois Carroll, Helen Burleigh, Dorothy Burleigh, Avery Munro, Mary Orcutt, Helen Mitchel, Doris Pearson, Jean Orcutt, Marion Weed, Clarissa Lewin, Audrey Hodgins, Paul Gellerson and Vaughn Daggett.
