Description

Charles A. Green of Brewer had his photograph taken by the Marston Studio in Bangor around 1870. Green lived on Betton St. around this time.

Charles A Green was born in Madison, Maine, September 24, 1826. He lived in Madison, Skowhegan, and Bangor before removing to Brewer. He resided in Brewer until his death in 1890s. His life was spent in lumbering, brick making, and farming, and in census records he's listed as "teamster." He first married Rebecca M. Gorham in 1849, who died young, leaving one child. Second he married Harriet B. Leach in 1857 and had two children, Rebecca and Walter. Mr. Green was constable in Brewer for 14 years, Street Commissioner for 5 years and captain of the cavalry company in Bangor for 5 years. (History of Penobscot County, 1882, p. 267)
