Description

This foot bridge over the Meduxnekeag River replaced an earlier foot bridge that had been built in 1890.

The bridge made it easier for the Highland Hotel owners to walk from their homes to the Hotel.

The Highland owners: James Archibald, Ransford W. Shaw, George Nickerson and George A. Hall paid $3,000 and the Town of Houlton paid $6,000 to build the bridge.

This photograph is part of the (Edward) E. B. White Collection, a collection of photographs by E. B. White and other photographers taken between 1885 and 1920.
