Charlotte Millett, left, of Gorham, and Emmie B. Whitney of Lewiston tend to the campfire during a trip to the Katahdin region in 1935.
Millett vacationed in the Katahdin a number of times with Emmie and Herbert Whitney, who were avid hikers and mountain climbers.
Emmie Whitney was a reporter and editor at the Lewiston Journal and Herb Whitney was a noted amateur photographer. Millett worked for an insurance agency in Gorham.
