Governor Llewellyn Powers

Description

Llewellyn Powers (1836-1908), a native of Pittsfield, attended Pittsfield Academy and Colby College. He studied law at Union University, Albany, New York, in 1860. In 1861 he set up his law practice in Houlton.

He was Maine's governor from 1897 to 1901.

Powers served in Congress before he became governor and from 1901 until his death in 1908.
