Description
The Longfellow Garden Club, which began maintaining the gardens surrounding the Wadsworth-Longfellow house in Portland in 1924, used a series of lantern slides, such as this one of the lattice fence in the garden, in talks they gave.
Gladys Pratt of the American Museum of Natural History in New York hand painted this and many of the slides the club used.
The Wadsworth-Longfellow house became a historic house museum operated by the Maine Historical Society in 1901.
