John Davison wrote to his wife, Eliza Ann Davison of Augusta, from Mobile. He told her he had a load of cotton aboard his ship and was heading for Providence. He sent her a draft for money and asked her to give some to his business partner to pay some bills. He commented on how slow business was and how difficult it was to get freight to transport.
