Sheraton Federal sideboard, York, 1810-1815

Description

This mahogany table was probably made by Jonathan Judkins and William Senter of Portsmouth, NH (active 1808-1826). Owned by Mesach B. Trundy and wife Martha Whidden. Trundy owned businesses in Portsmouth and Somersworth, NH.

Mahogany with mahogany, satinwood and other veneers. 4 reeded and turned legs which taper in at base. Plain feet. 3 narrow drawers. Center drawer with oval in lighter veneer. Smaller side drawers with rectangular veneer. Below on sides are 2 larger drawers. Center 2 drawers open to shelf. Fine line of veneer outlines entire piece. Similar to SPNEA owned drawer front of Rundlett-May House (Portsmouth, NH) dressing table.
