This chair has the history of belonging to Esther Woodruff (Smith) Hungerford (1863-1951) and Dr. Harry Hungerford (1857-1893) who married 1889 and were York summer residents.
Walnut. Vase-shaped back splat. Squared stiles taper inwards to yoke-shaped crest rail. Cabriole front legs with pointed knees terminate in padded feet. Rear legs squared and chamfered, taper outwards. H-stretchers. Rear stretchers block and baluster turned. Seat reupholstered with green fabric.
