Contributed by Maine Historical Society

Description

A crowd of about 200 people welcomed the State of Maine on April 4, 1982, when it rolled into Kennebunk an hour behind sechdule on a special excursion trip from Boston to Portland. It was the train's first and last appearance since 1960 when it ran a four-hour, 125-mile trip between Worcester, Massachusetts, and Union Station in Portland.
