Fashion taxidermy fur accessory, ca. 1930

Contributed by Maine Historical Society

Description

Maintaining the face, legs or feet on fur pelts was a popular choice during the 1920s and 30s. This “taxidermy” accessory at first glance may look like mink, but mink have webbed feet. These animals are more likely weasels, a close relative to the mink. A stitched hook near the feet indicates the pelts were attached to another item, perhaps a jacket shoulder, child’s garment, or hat.
