Description
This full-length blush pink gown with a high neck and long sleeves represents a popular 1970s design aesthetic. A modest and demure silhouette, covering the body in fabric was immensely popular during the decade.
Designed by New York label Harold Levine, the rayon-silk blend presents as silk chiffon. Full, cuffed sleeves and pin-tucked pleated chiffon-blends were a hallmark of Harold Levine, specifically lead designer Don Breitinger who worked for the label during the 1960s and 1970s. A nylon sash sits high on the waist, another popular 1970s design element when belted maxi-dresses were prevalent in both formal and casual attire.
It is associated with artist Cecile P. Carver who summered in Scarborough's Prouts Neck.
