John N. Cole, Augusta, 1981

Description

Publisher and author John Cole, who grew up in the city, then moved to the country where he tried to live independently, wrote a book about people in New England who cut the urban umbilical cord. The name of the book is 'Cityside/Countryside: A Journey to Two Places', written with Nathan Cobb and published in 1980. The book comprises essays written for the Boston Globe Magazine and the Maine Times over the 1978-1979 seasons. John Cole co-founded the Maine Times.
