Description

The crew inside the carpentry shop at the Portland Company, Portland, in the late 1800s.

The Portland Company fabricated locomotives, ship equipment and other objects of metal, but required a carpentry shop to build forms and assist with building the cabs for the locomotives and all the woodworking for the thousands of railroad cars built here.
