Description

A bird's eye map of Castine, nestled between Wadsworth's Cove, Hatch's Cove and the harbor. A small vignette at the upper left contextualizes "Castine and part of Brooksville and Penobscot."

The legend highlights various local interest points, including churches, schools, railroads, hotels, batteries, forts, and observatories, as well as the cemetery, custom house and post office. The legend also includes "bits of history," with a focus on the British occupation of Castine during the War of 1812.
