Description

A three-piece wool dress worn by Ella May Clark at her marriage to Wallace Morrill was ideal for a January wedding in Maine. The couple married at Yarmouth on January 5, 1901. Clark (1876-1944) worked as a school teacher in New Gloucester before she married.

The tan wool bodice is trimmed with white ruffles and velvet cuffs, and a detachable velvet collar. The brown velvet belt includes shell buckle detail. The silhouette may be referencing the period's popular Gibson Girl style.
