Description
A khaki work dress or maid's uniform with a straight silhouette is indicative of mid-1920s style. Pleated along the side for movement, the dress features side seam gusset pleats. The skirt portion is plain except for one pleat on the proper left side. The detached belt is made from the same cotton material.
Four Bakelite buttons run from the pointed collar to the waistband. A label at the neck reads "TRUTEX REG" above a castle insignia. Below the castle reads "CLITHEROE GUARANTEED." Trutex, a uniform brand from Clitheroe, Lancashire, United Kingdom was initially known as Clitheroe Shirtings Ltd. The name Trutex was introduced in the mid-1920s, helping to date the garment.
