Views of Old Orchard Beach, 1879

Description

The "balloon view of Old Orchard" includes a numbered key to rivers, a camp and Boston and Maine Railroad depot. Also included is "on the beach at low tide" showing in the distance islands such as Prout's Neck and Bluff Island. Illustrations include hotels that were once near and on the beach such as Sea-Shore House, Old Orchard House-Ocean Front. Included is a rustic observatory in Ferry Beach Park. View is from a guidebook titled "Old Orchard, Maine pen and pencil sketches," by J.S. Locke.
