William Bayley letter to mother, July 7, 1778

Description

William Bayley, a soldier in the Continental Army, wrote to his mother, Jean Bayley of Falmouth, about leaving Valley Forge and engaging in battle with the Regulars (the British) near Sandy Hook. He wrote that the Continental Army "had much the better" of the Regulars.
