Description

In the summer of 1925 (June 29 to July 4), over a dozen governors and their entourages descended on Maine for the seventeenth annual Governors Convention, held at Poland Spring. Many of the executives and their families arrived by the steamship "Calvin Austin" at Portland. After a brief tour of Maine's largest city, they set off in cars to regroup in Poland for the start of the convention.

Pictured here are some of the first to disembark from the pier. From left to right: Governor E. Lee Trinkle of Virginia, Mrs. Trinkle, and Governor Adam McMullin of Nebraska.
