Sarah Tibbetts on coping with son's theft, Westport Island, 1895

Contributed by Westport Island History Committee

Description

Sarah Tibbetts' son, Eddie Tibbetts, stole money from their family while her husband, Captain John M. Tibbetts, was at sea. Coping was both spiritual and practical for Sarah, because they were a family of very limited economic means.

She also spoke of a neighbor who died, Isabella Hodgdon (1818-1895).
