Indian Island ferry, Old Town, ca. 1900

Description

Visitors to Indian Island, the reservation land assigned to the Penobscot Nation, took a ferry boat from Old Town to reach the Island.

In 1950, a one-lane, steel girder bridge connecting the Island to Old Town replaced the ferry.
