Ezekiel Day (1772-1842), a Portland distiller from Elm Street, sat for portrait painter Charles O. Cole sometime around the year 1840. The Cole oil painting was later photographed as a daguerreotype. The photograph is in reverse, with Day facing to his left. In the painting, Day faces to his right. The daguerreotype and oil painting are both owned by the Maine Historical Society.
