Description
In 1927, after less than ten years in operation, Queen's Hospital (the precursor to Mercy Hospital) expanded to include additional buildings along State Street in Portland, adjacent to its original location on the corner of Congress and State streets.
The newly acquired buildings were designated as pavilions, named for the Evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The St. Mark's and St. Luke's pavilions accommodated the expanding Nursing school.
