Description
A recommended treatment for a cow suffering from milk fever, also known as Hypocalcemia.
As dairy cows go into calving, their body drains their blood of calcium for the production of milk and colostrum, causing low blood calcium levels. Some cows are not able to reproduce the calcium quickly enough, and may show symptoms of milk fever, such as excitement and agitation, or even death.
Mr. McLellan, believed to be either Samuel E. McLellan (d. 1887) or one of his two sons, Henry (d. 1892) or William, worked at the family owned shop located at 918 Main Street in Westbrook (also known as Sacarrappa.)
