Description

German Prisoners of War, or POWs, were housed at Camp Houlton during World War II. Many of the POWs were put to work laboring locally on potato farms and in the woods, since most local young men had gone to war.

This rare view of the stockades of the prisoner of war area at likely was taken right after the war ended in 1945.
