Description
This broadside was published in 1819 after Massachusetts had enacted their separation act for the District of Maine. The address outlined six specific objections to the act, ranging from taxes to land distribution. Ultimately, the meeting-goers called for patience and hesitancy on behalf of Mainers; they explained that any bit of haste is falling into a trap set by Massachusetts to reap financial benefit from the separation. The signers of the broadside include notable federalists and anti-separationists Benjamin Orr and Stephen Longfellow, Jr.
