Description

John Dunn and his hunting party, including Charles B. Dunn at right, erected this remote outpost camp on Russell Pond at the base of Russell Mountain, about fifteen miles north of Northeast Cove on Moosehead Lake. It is likely that the group took a steamship to the north end of Moosehead Lake, then traveled on pack horses for another day or more to reach this remote area.
