Description
The Champlain Society was a group of Harvard students who camped and collected significant scientific and historic research on Mount Desert Island in the 1880's.They recorded their research in several logbooks.
This logbook details the namesake of the Society, Samuel Champlain and his explorations of Mount Desert. President of the Champlain Society, Charles Eliot, compiled, wrote, and read the log during Champlain Society meetings in 1882.
