This hand colored lantern slide of oxen during a pulling contest is one image in a series of photographs taken by Dorothy Stanley Emmons at the 1932 Farmington County Fair.

Dorothy and her mother, photographer Chansonetta Stanley Emmons, both took photographs at the event. Chansonetta was raised in nearby Kingfield, Maine.
