Description

Portraits of homes and homesteads were a frequent subject of photographer Chansonetta Stanley Emmons. Born in Kingfield in 1858, she was introduced to photography by her older brothers F.O. and F.E. Stanley. The brothers invented a dry-plate photographic system, which they later sold to Eastman-Kodak.

In the far distance of this hand colored image is Kingfield Village.
