Description
The Champlain Society was a group of Harvard students who summered on Mount Desert Island from 1879 to 1889.
During the summer of 1879, a few of the Society's members recorded the daily climate and meteorological activity, including temperature, humidity, wind direction and velocity, and weather at various stations located throughout the island.
Samuel A. Eliot was the principle recorder.
