Description

The Hermitage was a summer cottage at Fortune's Rocks owned by Ella Elizabeth Haines (1863-1943).

Haines was a teacher who lived and worked in the Boston area in the neighborhoods of Newton Centre, Jamaica Plain, and Brookline, during the winter. She first appeared in local Biddeford directories in 1911, and may have purchased the cottage around that time.
