Cella's Club Orchestra band members, complete with their instruments, had their portrait taken at the Elite Studio in Biddeford, around 1935.
The band was comprised of brass, woodwinds, strings and percussion, and presumably was a dance band that played regionally. A gondola boat and Venetian scene painted on the band's drum might be a clue to understanding their origins.
None of the band members have been identified, we don't know who "Cella" was, or if the band was local to the Biddeford area. Neither the band nor the name "Cella" appear in the Biddeford City Directories from that time period. Biddeford has a very rich musical history, and was home to numerous bands, orchestras and musicians. Learning more about this mystery band would fill a gap in our knowledge.
